Understanding Needs, Building Together

The ECO-CULTURAL Needs Analysis Report is Now Live!

We are proud to announce the release of our Needs Analysis Report for the Erasmus+ project “Eco-Cultural Workshops: Building a Sustainable Future” (Project ID: 2024-1-DE04-KA210-YOU-000254285). This research marks a key milestone in our mission to empower youth workers, migrants, and refugees through sustainability-focused, inclusive learning experiences.

This 15-month project brings together three organizations across Europe — BALTURKA (Lithuania), Academy Verein für Bildungsberatung e.V. (Germany), and DUNAJ (Poland) — with the shared goal of fostering green skills and cultural integration through non-formal education.

🔎 Why a Needs Analysis?

Understanding the real experiences, needs, and aspirations of our target groups is essential to delivering meaningful impact. That’s why we conducted a comprehensive mixed-method study — combining quantitative surveys and qualitative focus group interviews — to hear directly from migrants, refugees, and youth workers.

This research not only informs our upcoming activities but ensures that every toolkit, workshop, and webinar is shaped by real voices from the communities we aim to support.

📊 Who Did We Reach?

75+ migrants and refugees participated in an online questionnaire, sharing their views on sustainability, integration, and everyday eco-practices.

15 youth workers from diverse backgrounds took part in focus group interviews, where they reflected on survey results and helped co-develop strategies.

We also engaged stakeholders such as NGOs, youth centers, and local support groups to ensure a well-rounded understanding of current challenges and opportunities.

💬 What Did We Ask?

The questionnaire explored a wide range of topics, including:

Cultural integration challenges, such as language barriers, employment access, and community acceptance

Environmental awareness and practices, such as recycling, energy use, and sustainable habits

Familiarity with green skills like renewable energy, waste management, and urban gardening

Barriers to participation in environmental or community activities

Hopes for support, training, and inclusion

And most importantly: How can environmental issues bring people from different cultural backgrounds together?

These questions revealed valuable insights into how sustainability and inclusion can go hand in hand — not just in policy, but in everyday life.

🌱 What’s Next?

This Needs Analysis lays the groundwork for all upcoming ECO-CULTURAL project activities:

A hands-on educational toolkit designed for youth workers

A series of eco-cultural workshops and webinars

A platform for youth empowerment through green action and cultural connection

By linking environmental education with intercultural understanding, we aim to build stronger, greener, and more connected communities.
